Sara Santini always felt like she had “knots in her stomach.” She could never relax, she was always worried. She worried about her children, she worried about her Pastor, she worried about her friends, she worried about the country, she even worried about the whole world.
If you asked her what it was that concerned her so much about all these people and places, she would say, “Everything, I’m just worried that nothing bad happens, and that everything is always ok.” Worrying was almost like a full-time job for Sara. She was filled with anxiety all the time. That is until she met Our Lady, Untier of Knots! Brother Frank Euclid, a Franciscan Friar who lives in New York City, was working in the church one day when a young woman walked into the church and burst into tears. He went over to her and asked if there was anything he could do to help, or was there someone he could call for her.
She sobbed that she was just so lonely. Her fiancé had broken up with her a few weeks ago, and she missed him and felt so lonely. She described feeling like she was all alone in the middle of the ocean and there was no one and nothing around her.
After speaking with her for over an hour, Brother Frank introduced her to Our Lady, Untier of Knots. Ted Mullane was just short of turning sixty years old, and as he wandered into the church, he felt like he was sinking into a huge black hole and that his life was sliding away. He had just received notice that he was being laid off from his job. So many questions were flying through his head –
• who would hire him at this age?
• how would he and his wife survive?
• what about his retirement?
• how could this have happened to him?
All these thoughts were screaming in his head until he met Our Lady, Untier of Knots. Sara, the young woman who spoke with Brother Frank, and Ted were all helped by someone who introduced them to Our Lady under the title of Untier of Knots. Praying to Our Lady, Untier of Knots does not solve every problem immediately or even ever, but the strength and clarity of thought and emotion can come from praying to Our Lady to help untie the “knots in my stomach,” ease the “pain in my heart,” and calm the “worrying in my soul.”
Praying to Our Lady, Untier of Knots can help ease the emotions and thoughts that constantly run through our mind which can stop us from thinking clearly, and help us understand the problems or obstacles that hinder us from feeling well and happy. Please join the Franciscan Friars in our Great Novena to Our Lady, Untier of Knots. Pray to Our Lady with us each day of the Novena that your intentions can be granted, and peace can come to you and all those you pray for in the Novena.
The Franciscans will be there with you in prayer and spirit as we pray to Our Lady, Untier of Knots, and begin to see and feel the clarity that comes with Her comfort and Her peace. May Our Lady, Untier of Knots, be with you now and throughout this Great Novena.
